Approximately two hours after labor and for safety reasons, you shall remain in Resuscitation (Level -1), where your closest relatives can pay you a visit. You are then transfered to the Maternity Ward (Ground Level), where you will most probably stay for 4 days after a natural delivery or 5 days if you had a C-section. Your doctor will inform you about when can you leave the hospital.

- Limit your visits and strictly follow visiting hours (11.00-13.00 and 18.30-20.30 or 18.30-21.00 during the summer), which are adjusted to facilitate the unobstructed breastfeeding of the newborn, the mother's rest and to prevent the transmission of germs to the baby. Entrance in the room is not allowed to children under the age of 12. If you have selected a single room or a suite, you will be able to have your baby in the room on a 24hour basis. Visiting is not recommended in this case.

Upon departure from the Interbalkan Medical Center, the baby is handed to the mother, who signs for it in a special form, gets one of the two bracelets (the other one remains on file), gets her Health Card and the baby's blood group and Rhesus.

The hospital keeps your medical records archived and classified. A copy can be given only to the person immediately concerned or a legally authorized individual.

We take good care of your baby!

During your stay in the Maternity Ward, your baby is next door, in the Neonatal Room, where all the healthy neonates are hosted under the constant monitoring of neonatologists and nurses.  The neonatologist-pediatrician visits you dailyand updates you on the health of your baby.

All the newborns go through a preventive check-up, according to the directive of the Institute of Child Health and the Ministry of Health, for:

Congenital hyperthyroidism, phenylketonuria, G-6-PD deficiency and galactosemia.

Moreover, all neonates participating in the preventive check-up program with new technologies (mass spectrometry, Tandem MS) that allow for fast detection of 44 diseases, will be diagnosed early in case of such disease and be treated accordingly. Ask for the special informational brochure.
